Dear Anonymous,
How are you? Since young, you have taken a liking to online Role-Playing Games. Thus, you are very good at playing online games. Recently, you liking to online games has slowly worsened into an addiction. Playing online games as a hobby is much different from being addicted to playing online games.

When you play the game as a hobby, you are in control of the game, you know when you have to let go and concentrate on much more important matters in life. However, when you are addicted to playing online games, the game controls you instead. When the game controls you, you are unable to stop, you are unable to prioritize, what is more important? The virtual world or reality? Yes, its a virtual world that you can conquer and rule, but when you come back to reality, it all comes down to nothing at all doesn't it?

Perhaps to you, the virtual world is more than just a game, its something that you have spent days and months trying to perfect, if you were to let go, its too much of a waste. The fact is, if you let go, you can still turn back. Forget about those hours, days, months or even years. Compared to the long road ahead of you, which you can still make a choice to change it, these hours, days, months and years are nothing but a lesson. Learn from the lesson! You can continue to play your game, as long as you recognize the limit.

I am writing this letter to you as i am concerned about you. If you continue to be addicted to gaming, your grades will drop, your interaction between your family and friends will lessen, your health will deteriorate. If you only "wake up" when the consequences have been done, it'll be very hard to fix back things to the way they were before! Especially our friendship, we have become more distant with each other recently. Not just me, but your classmates and friends as well! Friendships are not easy to forge, best friends are not easy to find, i do not wish to lose such a valuable friend either. Remember that your friends are there for you. If you ever need a listening ear, i'll be there to listen! :D

Sincerely,
Toby Gail Lim
